REA Weekly Commercial Search Report Insights

'Buy commercial property' searches have increased, while lease searches continued to decline over the last week.

Year-on-year change in searches for commercial properties for sale in Australia.

For-Sale Searches: State-by-State Breakdown

Overall: searches were 2% higher (with increases in every state except WA.

Year-on-year searches are 32.2% higher overall.

Tasmania: 11.7% increase.

The Northern Territory 59.2% year-on-year growth.

South Australia 34.3% increase.

Queensland: 32.8% increase.

For-Lease Searches

Overall a 1.3% decline.

Year-on-Year, lease searches are 4.6% higher overall.

Victoria: 4.8% decline, largely due to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent lockdown preventing physical inspections.

New South Wales:

1.1% decline.

According to the REA Report:

The latest GDP figures, showing Australia’s economy is now above pre-COVID levels, is a positive sign for the commercial property sector. Rising business investment and confidence should help support further growth in demand for commercial property over the remainder of 2021.
