Uptick in Commercial Construction Work

According to the recent outlook provided by the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF) asset owners are spending money in order to keep their assets competitive, which along with one-off boosts by way of demand for commercial facilities in above-station rail developments, will provide a ~2% growth in building output this year, to $251.4B.
According to Kerry Barwise, ACIF’s consulting economist, from the asset owners perspective:
“There are a number of people that are refreshing their buildings to refresh their competitiveness,”
While from an employer perspective:
“If you want to attract your employees, in addition to giving them a pay rise, you spruce up the office and make it a more sustainable, attractive place to work".

This "surprising resilience" will go a long way in offsetting the decline in residential construction due to many developers shelving apartment projects given the increasing build costs and lower dwelling values.
